The Slovenian RFT sector - a summary - 2018

International counts for more than 90% of the total activity of the Slovenian sector, of which 40% for the sole cross-trade RFT activity. Despite its small size, no more inhabitants than in Paris intramural, Slovenia is ranked 12th among European sectors on international activity and 7th place on cross-trade RFT activity.

Due to its location at the crossroads between the Mediterranean, the Alps and the Balkans, Slovenia has special relations with the countries of Western Europe, in particular Italy, Austria, Germany and, to a lesser extent, France and the Benelux countries. With a relatively high national minimum wage, €842.79 gross per month, the cost of Slovenian driving staff remains low because of low employer contributions. The cost of a driving hour is therefore €13.12 per hour, contributions, travel allowances and all premiums included. In addition, with an annual mileage per vehicle around 130,500 km, the Slovenian sector seems to be in line with the model seen in Eastern European countries.

Remarkable singularity in Europe, Slovenian carriers do not pay axle tax, in return motorways are toll-based and mandatory for heavy goods vehicles. Slovenian hauliers must therefore pay a toll of almost €0.43 per km for a 40-tonne 5-axle heavy goods vehicle.
